William Daniel Gooch, 87, went home to be with the Lord on November 4, 2026. He was born on February 9, 1939, in Gaddistown, Union County, to Milton Thomas Gooch and Ellen Nellie Lunsford. A man of faith and devotion, Bill was a faithful member of the Woodstock Church of Christ. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army.
“But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased” (NKJV, Hebrews 13:16).
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Alisa, and grandson, Andrew. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Essie Marie Kyle Gooch; daughter Dana Payne (Jeff), granddaughter Brittney Sharp (Chase), and great-granddaughter, Zelda; son, Tony Gooch (Dawn), granddaughter Elizabeth Cooper (Dustin), and great-grandsons Stetson and Colter; special niece, Ellen Payne (Barry), and special great-niece, Brooke Payne (Reed); and sister, Laura Duvall (Edward), nephews Scott and Tracy, and niece, Julie.
Whether you knew him as William, Daniel, Bill, Dad, or Pop, you can smile and be comforted because he was born again and became a Christian in the later years of his life.
He was a son, brother, husband, dad, granddad, Army veteran, real estate brokerage owner, custom home builder, and good provider to many people.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new”
(NKJV, 2 Corinthians 5:17).
Funeral services to honor and celebrate Bill’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Butch Jones and Minister Matt Amos officiating. Interment will follow in the J.P. Chastain Memorial Park in Blue Ridge, Georgia with the following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Barry Payne, Jeff Payne, Billy Porter, Tracy Duvall, Perry Kyle, Jeff Kyle, and Lester Kyle.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am until the service hour of 1:00pm on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at Logan Funeral Home.
