Dr. Wesley James Burke, age 76 of Ellijay, GA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2024. Dr. Burke was born on December 20, 1947, in San Jose, CA, to his late parents Wesley Clinton Burke and Katherine Elizabeth Burke.

Dr. Burke is survived by his wife of 28 years Catherine "Cathy" Burke of Ellijay; daughters Noelle Burke (Brian) Plumley of Ellijay and Ashlee Burke of Astoria, OR; stepdaughter Jennifer Hackney of Kennesaw, GA; granddaughter Katherine "Katie" Plumley (Austin) Davis of Ellijay and great-grandson Rhodes Burke Davis.

Dr. Burke graduated from both Highland Academy and Southern Missionary College. He then attended dental school at Emory University. Upon graduating from Emory in 1973, he moved to Ellijay to open his dental practice and had remained a member of the community since. In nearly 50 years of practice, Dr. Burke developed close relationships with both his patients and staff, with many becoming like family.

Dr. Burke spent memorable time with his friends, golfing in Palm Springs and hunting at deer camp in South GA. He had a great sense of humor and was an avid reader, music lover and history buff. His true joy in life was spending time with his number one priority, his family. Since retiring, he and his wife enjoyed family get-togethers, time at the beach and being "Pa and Mimi" to their great-grandson.

Dr. Burke was a kind, compassionate and generous man. He will be greatly missed and remembered always.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the Logan Funeral Home Chapel.
