Obituary

Virginia Sue Powell, lovingly known to her family as "Aunt Susie," passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, at the age of 82. In her final days, she was surrounded by love in Bowdon, Georgia, in the tiny home she affectionately named Camp Susie—a place that reflected her independence, warmth, and simple joy in life.

Born on February 13, 1943, in Ellijay, Georgia, Sue was the daughter of the late Virginia and Clarence Tuggle. Ellijay remained close to her heart throughout her life, even as she later made her home in Bowdon. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Steven Edward Bedsole, who passed away on May 3, 2014.

Sue retired from Southern Bell after many years of dedicated service as a phone operator. To those who knew her best, she was a constant—dependable, caring, and deeply devoted to her family. As "Aunt Susie," she held a special place in the lives of many, offering affection, wisdom, and a sense of belonging that spanned generations.

She is survived by her three sisters, Martha Nixon, Annette Mathis, and Denise Clackum, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will cherish her memory and the love she shared so freely.
