Ms. Viola Thelma (Townsend) Martin, age 88, passed away on Thursday April 16, 2020 at her residence. Viola was born June 26,1931 to her late parents, Arthur and Millie (Dotson) Townsend in Dalton, Georgia, and was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her sons, Johnny and David Martin, sisters Zelma T. Coker, Virginia Davis, brothers Junior, George, A.M., Earl, Delmer, Elmer, Raymond and Dirl Townsend. A private family visitation and graveside service will be held on Saturday April 18, 2020 followed by Interment at the Crossroads Baptist Church cemetery. Mrs. Viola is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Maylene and Rev. Junior Maney of Ellijay, GA. son and daughters-in-law, Mark and Julie Martin, of Ellijay, GA., and Lorene Martin of Ellijay, GA. Sisters-in-law Bernice Townsend of Ellijay, Alice Townsend of Cedertown, and Rosemary Townsend of Rockhill, S.C., brother and sister-in-law William and Mary Townsend, Ellijay, GA, 13 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren also surviving.
