Mr. Tom Benjamin Sanford, Jr., age 84 of Ellijay, Georgia died on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at the Heritage Healthcare of Blue Ridge. Born January 13, 1930 in Ellijay, Georgia to his late parentsTom Benjamin Sanford, Sr. and Martha Ann Dotson Sanford. He retired from Gold Kist Poultry as a supervisor. An honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his son Keith Sanford, 5 Brothers and 5 Sisters. Mr. Sanford is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ada Mae Watkins Sanford of Ellijay, GA, sons and daughter-in-law, Jack and Melonie Sanford of Ellijay, GA and Curtis Sanford of Lilburn, GA, daughters and sons-in-law, Connie Simms of Ellijay, GA, Robin and Rev. Dwayne McPherson of Ellijay, GA and Martha and Michael Harper of Centre, AL. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday September 19th, 2014 at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bryan Hensley and Rev. Franklin McPherson officiating. Graveside interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with David Edmondson, Bobby Champion, Walter Edmondson, Tommy McPherson, Christopher Edmondson, Zachary Sanford, Shane Ellis and Casey Ellis serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Logan Funeral Home, 357 Dalton Street, Ellijay, Georgia.
