Obituary

Mrs. Theresa Carboni Levine age 97, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013 at Gilmer Nursing Home in Ellijay, GA. In May of 2007, Mrs. Levine moved from W. Palm Beach, FL to Ellijay, GA to live with her son, Gene Levine. For the past 20 months, she was a resident of the Assisted Living Center, Cameron Hall of Ellijay. Thanks to the amiable staff and the many friends made, she felt content and at home there. "Ms. Theresa" enjoyed participating in most all activities, especially Choir and Bingo. She was admired and well liked by everyone. A Memorial Mass was held Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Catholic Church with Father Charles Byrd officiating. Theresa Claire Carboni was born on August 22, 1915 in New Haven, Connecticut, the eldest of seven children. Her parents, Caesar and Mary DeFelice Carboni were Italian immigrants, who entered America via Ellis Island. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Kent, Ohio; with a talent for languages, she won a scholarship to Kent State University and earned a two year degree. In the early 1950's, Theresa moved to Florida, first to Daytona Beach, then further south to Palm Beach County where she worked and raised her three youngest children. She was employed many years as Office Manager at Pahokee Motors, in Pahokee, FL and, then later at Dahlgard Motors in Lake Worth, FL. She lived the greater part of her life in South Florida. After retirement, her time was devoted to her children and family. Three of her siblings also moved to Florida; bought homes within her vicinity. This was a great joy for her, as it enabled all the relatives to get together often and regularly. She traveled frequently abroad to visit her daughter living in Switzerland. Theresa had a lovely voice and enjoyed singing, as well as dancing. She was an avid reader and a wiz at crossword puzzles. She had an eye for decorating and was an excellent seamstress. She was also a marvelous cook, famous for her pork roast and passatelli soup. On holidays, she traditionally prepared grand dinners; always bringing the whole family together as often as possible. Her great sense of humor and positive outlook on life helped her through many a trial and tribulation. Above all in life, she loved her children and family. She will be missed. Her beloved memory will always be in our hearts.
