Mr. Stanley Dean Hanlon, age 92 of Ellijay, GA passed away on Sunday March 27th, 2022. Stanley was born on July 27th, 1929 in Greencastle, Indiana to his late parents Glenn and Mabel Hanlon. Stanley served honorably in the United States Army as a deep sea diver during the Korean War. Stanley was well known for his music. He was often called a local legend and was loved and highly respected by many musicians in Ellijay as well as Indiana. Stanley is preceded in death by his wife, Alma Jean Hanlon, son, Terry Glenn Hanlon, and grandson, Ryan Lloyd Hanlon. Survivors include children, Travis and Rachelle Hanlon of Clayton, GA, Myra and Ron Daniels of Daytona Beach, FL, Janet and Danny Turner of Abbeville, SC, Jimmy and Susan Bennington of Crawfordsville, IN, Darren and Donna Bennington of Gainesville, GA, Melody and Teddy Nichols of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren, Jamie and Celeste Stewart, Michelle Muenchow, Tanya and Blake Richards, Heath and Michelle Hanlon, Joshua Bennington and Jessica Gordon, Alicia and Cassie Turner, Jacob and Mary M. Turner, Shiloh and Sammy Evans, Tori Maxwell, Shelbi Bennington, Morgan Bennington, Abby Merck, and Isabell Merck. Also survive are 25 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 2:00 pm with the North GA Honor Guard officiating.
