Mrs. Patsy Sharlene Hefner Ponder age 72 of Ellijay, GA passed Monday morning, March 27th, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Ponder was born July 23rd, 1944 in Marietta, GA. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and a graduate of Gilmer High School, Class of 1962. Sharlene worked as a teacher's aide and was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her father Coy Hefner, brother Billy Hefner, sister Janet Hefner Cantrell and grandson Adam Ponder. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Randall Ponder of the home in Ellijay, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Janet Ponder and Brent and Jill Ponder all of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren and in-laws, Kayla and Jamie Easley, Jake and Kellie Ponder, Amanda and JB Davis and Mariah Ponder, all of Ellijay, GA; great grandchildren, Parker Easley, Owen Easley, Rydlee Ponder, Jay Ponder and Tucker Ponder all of Ellijay, GA; mother, Flora Plemmons Hefner of Ellijay, GA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clyde and Vera Beal of Ellijay, GA, Pat Godfrey of Ellijay, GA and Fred and Ruby Ponder of Tate, GA also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Wednesday, March 29th, 2017 from the chapel of Logan Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Burgess and Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Music and vocals will be by Kayla Easley. Graveside interment will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery with Jake Ponder, Jamie Easley, Edgar Land, Freddie Vick, Jeff Vick and Robert Ponder serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Gilmer High School Class of 1962. Family will receive friends from 4pm until 9pm on Tuesday, March 28th, 2017 at the Logan Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Randy Ponder, 156 Mt. Pisgah Drive, Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Mrs. Ponder. The family requests that no food be brought to the funeral home.
