Obituary

Mrs. Sally Ann Fohrman, 75, of Ellijay, died Friday, May 20, 2016. She was born February 17, 1941 in Waukesha, Wisconsin to the late Mitchel and Julia Louella Welch. She was an honorable wife, cherished mother, beloved grandmother, and admired great-grandmother. Sally Ann was a spirited, vibrant woman of beauty who had a hunger for living life and a heart for loving others. As a dedicated wife to her husband, Sally Ann followed her partner in life, love, and soul across the globe as he served his country with the Armed Forces living in places such as Colorado, Alaska, Kansas, Germany and Georgia. She left her mark in history as the very first civilian female to work in the Infantry Battalion Headquarters S1 with the Third Infantry Division (Audie Murphy Division). She served as a nurse's aid for 2 years, operations supervisor at SAFECO for 10 years, financial supervisor at The Griffin Company for 6 years, supervisor at Bank of America Corporate Headquarters for 13 years, and office manager/accountant of Good Samaritan Catholic Church of Ellijay, Georgia for 6 years. She was Treasurer of the Good Neighbor Club of Coosawattee River Resort where she also served on the Compliance and Amenities committees. She served as President of St. Vincent de Paul for 2 years, active Lector and Eucharistic Minister for Good Samaritan Catholic Church and was a faithful and strong supporter of the Ellijay Knights of Columbus Council. She dedicated her life to her family and serving others by supporting, sponsoring, and volunteering for numerous charities, organizations, and her church. She enjoyed painting, crafting, line dancing, gardening, traveling, and music. She was an inspiration to all who were graced with her presence. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, SFC Ernest Ferdinand Fohrman (RET); daughters and soninlaw, Katherine E. and George C. Powell, of Cumming, Ga., and Valerie K. Jones, of Snellville, Ga; sons and daughterinlaw, Scott M. Fohrman, Troy H. and Erin Fohrman, all of Snellville, Ga.; 7 grandchildren, Michael Powell, April Rogers, Victoria Fohrman, Troy Fohrman, Brittany Fohrman, Drew Jones, Nicole Fohrman; and 5 greatgrandchildren, Nathaniel Lyons, Laila Fohrman, William D'Olivo, Thayer Bazzell, and Brayden Bazzell. The family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m.until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Logan Funeral Home. Memorial Services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Good Samaritan Catholic Church in Ellijay, Ga.
