Rev. Roy Lee Scott, age 89, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, September 25, 2026.

Rev. Scott was born on February 14, 1937, in Ellijay, Georgia, to the late Joseph Brown and Ladenna (Champion) Scott. Rev. Scott was saved in 1963 and, not long afterward, answered the Lord’s call to preach the Gospel. He was ordained in 1972 and went on to faithfully pastor many churches throughout the North Georgia area. For more than sixty years, he devoted his life to preaching God’s Word, serving the church, and ministering to families in times of both joy and sorrow. He had a heart for people and a deep love for the Lord, and his ministry touched the lives of many throughout the years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Ruby Crump and Catherine Crump; brother Floyd Scott; daughters-in-law Diane Scott and Margaret Scott; sisters-in law Audrey Scott, Ruby Newton, Bernice Worley, Martha Rackley, and Gladys Boatner; and brothers-in-law Ed Boatner, Tommy Crump, and James Crump.

Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Mrs. Isabelle (Boatner) Scott of the home in Ellijay; sons and daughters-in-law Wayne and Margaret Scott of Ellijay, Johnny and Donna Scott of Ellijay, Clay and Cindy Scott of Ellijay, and Tommy and Diane Scott of Ellijay; grandchildren Justin Scott (Carrie), LeeAnn Teague (Josh), Christopher Scott (Andrea), Jody Scott (Regan), Jacob Scott (Beth), Angela Dale Hensley, Laura Bryant, Sarah Sawyer, Jamie Lovingood, Whitney McCoin, and Aaron Floyd; eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Justin Hensley, Bro. Lloyd Worley and Bro. Caden Farist officiating. Special music will be provided by Justin Scott, Christopher Scott, and the Little Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow in the Flat Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Wayne Scott, Johnny Scott, Clay Scott, Tommy Scott, Justin Scott, Christopher Scott, Jody Scott, and Jake Scott.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Logan Funeral Home.
