Mr. Ronald "Ron" James Mooney, age 65 of Talking Rock, Georgia passed on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Heritage Hospice in Marietta, Georgia. Mr. Mooney was born May 7, 1950 in Ellijay, Georgia and was a graduate of Gilmer High School class of 1968 and was employed by Gilmer County Sheriff's Office as an investigator for over 20 years. He is preceded in death by son Christopher James Mooney. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Julia Mooney, 6136 Mt. Pisgah Road, Talking Rock, GA 30175. Survivors include wife of 42 years Julia Keener Mooney of the home in Talking Rock, GA; son James Brian Mooney of Ellijay; grandchildren Ivy Mooney & Ian Mooney; sister and brother-in-law Betty and Benny Weaver of Ellijay, GA; brother and sister-in-law Hoyt and Sharon Mooney of Pigeon Forge, TN.. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 9th, 2016 at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Paul Mooney officiating and Dr. Bill Rasig speaking.. Interment will follow in the Tickanetley Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Ellijay, GA. Pallbearers will be Bill Cody, Larry Keener, Benny Weaver, LeRoy Keener, Jeremiah Watkins and Daniel McTaggart. Honorary Pallbearers will be Terence Green, Telema Casteel, Jake McTaggart, Heather Watkins, Jerita Lowman, and Rebecca Mooney.
