Philip Young Tankersley

Mr. Philip "Phil" Young Tankersley, age 71 of Marietta,Ga formerley of Ellijay, Ga, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022, at his residence.

Born July 22, 1951 in Ellijay GA, to his late parents Herbert Hoover Tankersley and Robbie Jean (Woodring) Andrews. He is survived by brothers; Kent Tankersley of Finland, Terrell Tankersley of Colorado, Brent Andrews of Nebraska. Sister, Tammy Hopton, of Georgia and step-father, Don Andrews of Texas, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Phil is preceded in death by his brother, Cory Andrews.

During his childhood, he moved from Atlanta to California, and spent many years in Texas. He attended the University of Houston. He moved back to Atlanta in the 1980's, making Georgia his permanent home.

An avid sports fan, he enjoyed baseball and football. He was a devoted Georgia Tech fan.

His love of history with a special interest in the civil war, led him to becoming the family genealogist. He spent many years researching his family tree, discovering much information that helped him to understand more of his family ancestors. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of his family history with others.

He was a true music lover with an extensive variety of favorites especially the Beatles. He attended many music concerts over the years.

Phil dearly loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held February 25 at 11:00 at Logans Funeral Home following visitation at 10:00.
