Phillip "Phil" Anthony Simmons, age 70 of Ellijay, GA passed on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. He was born March 29, 1951 in Ellijay, GA to his late parents Howard and Izora (Pritchett) Simmons. Phil owned and operated Simmons Grading in Ellijay. Phil was a member of the American Legion, Blaine Masonic Lodge #534, and Gilmer Bass Club. Phil served Honorably in the US Army 101 Airborne during the Vietnam War. Survivors include his sons Mark Simmons, Ellijay, GA, Brad and Heather Simmons, Ellijay, GA, brothers Harold and Martha Simmons, Ellijay, GA, Billy Simmons, Ellijay, GA, sister Ann and Sammy Dover, Morganton, GA. Visitation will be Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Logan Funeral Chapel with Min. Butch Jones and Rev. Jackie Ellington officiating and the North Georgia Honor Guard officiating. Jim Young, Roy Pantoja, Brian Shedd, Gary Engle, Keith Parks, Justin Dover, Kevin Dover, and Ermel Southern with serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church cemetery.
