Obituary

Mr. Paul Francis Melton, Jr. age 80 of Ellijay, GA passed away on Tuesday December 19th, 2023 at Pruitt Health Nursing Home in Blue Ridge.

Mr. Melton was born on January 6th, 1943, in New Jersey to the late Jaima (Goff) and Paul Francis Melton, Sr.

Paul served his country honorably in the United States Army then started his employment in the refrigeration and electronics business. This was followed by a lengthy career at the Sun Oil Refinery in Marcus Hook, PA where he retired as a shift foreman. He moved on to own and operate multiple businesses, a seasonal flower store which also sold Christmas trees and the Dairy King which he owned for 27 years. Prior to moving to Florida and then Georgia, he was also a long-standing member of Linwood United Methodist Church, participating in both the Methodists Men's group and the church choir. Upon moving to Georgia, he became a member of the Hope Lutheran Church of Ellijay and was an active volunteer at the local food panty and the Faith, Hope, and Charity Thrift Store. When not active in church/volunteer activities or traveling, you could find Paul tinkering in the garage.

Paul is survived by his wife of 11 years, Joan Blomquist; children, Pam Mulvaney (Dave), Paul F. Melton, III, Linda Ratterree (Fred), Jim Blomquist, Jr., Robert Blomquist (Janet), John H. Blomquist (Laura); grandchildren, Erin Mulvaney, Erica Mulvaney, Megan Stephens (Andy), James Motes (Helen), Zachary Motes, Emily Blomquist, Sarah Blomquist, James Blomquist, and Kierstin Blomquist; and great grandson, Johnathan Motes.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday January 6th, 2024, at the Hope Lutheran Church of Ellijay. Visitation 11:00 am; Service 12:00pm; Pastor Dave Smedley officiating.
