Obituary

Mr. Paul William Davis, age 85 of the Zion Hill community, Ellijay, GA passed Saturday afternoon, April 1st, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Davis was born October 30th, 1931 in Ellijay, GA to his late parents Andrew Jackson and Wincie Sluder Davis. Paul was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ellijay, GA and served as the principal of Southwestern School. He taught agriculture and biology at Gilmer High School and retired from the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier. Mr. Davis is preceded in death by his daughter, Suzanne D. Korpeck, sisters Dorothy D. Hall and Dimple D. Davenport, brothers John Henry Davis and A.J. Davis. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Christine Painter Davis of the home in Ellijay, GA; daughter and son-in-law Denise and Alan Moser of Ellijay, GA; sons and daughters-in-law Tim and Connie Davis of Ellijay, GA and Tom and Terry Davis of Avon, IN; grandchildren, Jason Farmer, Chris Farmer, Mave Davis, Gwynne Davis, Sara Korpeck, Phil Korpeck, Anna Woodring, Thomas Davis, Tanner Davis, and Ally Davis; great grandchildren, Cooper, Weston, Kensie and Henry Farmer; brother and sister-in-law Martin and Emmy Davis of Landshut, Germany also survive. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Thursday, April 6th, 2017 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Tom Davis officiating. A military graveside service will immediately follow in the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with military rites performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard and bagpipes played by George McClellan. Interment will follow in the Ellijay City Cemetery with Tim Davis, Phil Korpeck, Alan Moser, Tanner Davis, Jason Farmer and Chris Farmer serving as pallbearers. Family will receive friends from 4pm until 8pm on Wednesday, April 5th, 2017 at the Logan Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517 or at www.woundedwarriorproject.org in memory of Mr. Davis.
