Opal Margaret (Hill) Powell age, 92 of Ellijay passed on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Opal was born on May 5, 1930, in Ellijay, GA to her late parents Homer and Lola Belle (Sluder) Hill. Opal was a member of the Mountaintown Baptist Church for over 40 years. Opal is preceded in death by her husband Jesse James Powell, brothers Willard Hill, Bob Hill, and Frank Hill.

Survivors include her daughter Barbara P (Paul) McPipkin of Forsyth, Ga; sons, Van (Karen) Powell of Ellijay, Ga, Tony (Penny) Powell of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren, Greg McPipkin, Chris McPipkin, Tim McPipkin, Lindsey Taylor, Jamie Powell, Laura Bramlett, Curt Powell, Hope P. Johnson, and Taylor P. James, great-grandchildren, Ava Taylor, Ellie Taylor, Luke Taylor, Maddy McPipkin, Ansley McPipkin, Finley McPipkin, Chase McPipkin, Reed McPipkin, Staci Kate Hunter, Penelope McPipkin, Brandon Powell, Jacob Powell, Cole Powell, Grace Bramlett, Emma Kate Bramlett, Reece Bramlett. Emily Powell, Riley Powell, Trenton Johnson, Sadie Johnson, Brinlee Johnson, Layton James, and Cashton James; great great grandchildren Mackenzie Powell, Payton Powell, and Elisabeth Powell; brother Carl and Jean Hill, Sr.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 31st, 2023, at the funeral home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 2:00 pm. Rev. Dennis Petty, Rev. Donnie Mullis, and Rev. Sam Snider officiating. Jamie Powell, Greg McPipkin, Curt Powell, Chris McPipkin, Tim McPipkin, Justin Bramlett, Jason Taylor, Dusty Johnson, and J. D. James are serving as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Mountaintown Baptist Church Cemetery.
