Obituary

We regretfully announce the passing of Norma Ruth Miller Shinkle, 79, of Ellijay, Georgia. Norma Ruth passed away on September 21,2021. Norma Ruth was born to Norman Ard and Josephine Nicholas Tate Miller on January 16,1942 in Kentwood, Louisiana. An independent and vibrant personality from the beginning, Norma Ruth was an excellent student. Norma Ruth graduated from high school with flying colors and immediately went on to study food service administration at Southeastern Louisiana College. After graduating from Southeastern in 1965 with a degree in Commercial Home Economics, Norma Ruth moved to Florida and began a career in food service administration for Morrison's Cafeteria. Shortly after beginning her career, Norma Ruth met Galen in Florida. Norma Ruth and Galen spent their days together and were deeply devoted to each other for 50 years. Norma Ruth retired after more than 30 years in food service administration and social services and enjoyed crafts, crocheting and was an active member of Gates Chapel United Methodist Church and in the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. Norma Ruth is survived by her husband Galen Floyd Shinkle, Ellijay GA her sister Joyce Elaine Miller Greener, Ringgold, GA her brother in law Irvin Shinkle and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews and special friends, Stephen and Kathy Igou, Ellijay GA and predeceased by her parents Norman and Josephine Miller, her brother in law, Steve Floyd Greener and great-nephew Nicholas Greener. A memorial service in Norma Ruth's name, will be held on Saturday, October 2nd at 11:00am at Logan's Funeral Home in Ellijay. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.loganfuneralhome.com.
