Mrs. Melissie Ruth Collins Bettis age 98, of Bennett Ridge Road, Ellijay, GA passed on Sunday January 10th, 2010 from the Gilmer Nursing Home. Mrs. Bettis was born on July 10, 1911 to her late parents Lewis T. and Lucia Maddox Collins in McDonough, GA, member of 1st United Methodist Church of Ellijay, retired employee of Lockheed Aircraft Corporation for 30 years. She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Revel A. Bettis, brother and sister in law Horace and Melody Collins and Johnny L and Olive Collins. Survivors include brother and sister in law Louis T. and Dorothy Collins of Ellijay, GA, Evelyn Collins of College Park, GA, Marie Bettis of Marietta, GA, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning at the Logan Funeral Home and Chapel. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Thursday, January 14th from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gil McGinnis officiating, music by Irene Wofford, interment in the Mountain View Cemetery in Marietta, GA.
