Maxine (Towery) Griffith, age 91 of Ellijay, GA passed on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. Maxine was born March 24, 1931, in Whitestone, GA to her late parents William Marshall and Clara (Moses) Towery. Maxine was a member of the Whitestone Baptist Church. Maxine graduated from Gilmer High School in 1949. Maxine retired from Mosley Tractor & Supply. Maxine is preceded in death by her husband J.T. Griffith, brothers J.R. Towery, Charles Towery, Harold Towery, sisters Eula Towery Botts, and grandson Adam Griffith. Survivors include sons Joseph T. Griffith, Ellijay, GA, and Dennis and Susan Griffith, Ft. Myers, FL, grandchildren Mathew Griffith, Eric Griffith, great-grandson, Jonathan Tyler Griffith, brother Earl Towery, Ellijay, GA, and several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 8, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Whitestone Baptist Church. With Rev. Harold Nelson and Rev. Byron Tillery officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitestone Baptist Church Cemetery.
