Mary Alice "McVey" May, 82 of Ellijay, GA., passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024. Alice was born in Blue Ridge, GA. on May 14, 1941, to her late parents Rev. Kimsey and Willie Ruth (Parks) McVey. Alice was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Alice is preceded in death by her husband Newell Howell May, and daughter-in-law Catherine May of Ellijay.

Survivors include her son Rev. Sam May of Ellijay, GA., daughters, Kim and Squeak Jones of Ellijay, GA., Trina May and Michael Davis of Crandall, GA, and Cristy and Rev. Bryan Hensley of Ellijay, GA. 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren: sisters Rebecca Jones, Ellijay, GA Linda Wikle, Waleska, GA, brother Loran and Donna McVey, Ellijay, GA. Other family includes Kenny Fendley and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 7, 2024, from 2:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 2 pm at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Scott, Rev. Lloyd Worley, and Rev. Bryan Hensley officiating. The singers will be Loran & Donna McVey and family, Chloe Schnuphase, Natalie Hensley, Lauren Jones, and Rev. Bryan Hensley. Interment will be at the May Family Cemetery with Nathan Jones, Nathan Hensley, Calob May, Grant May, Blake Davis, Dakota Davis, Kenny Fendley, Devin Schnuphase, Brier Jones, Bryson Hensley, Chase Lancaster serving as pallbearers.
