Mary Ellinora (Pankey) Jones, age 95 of Ellijay, GA passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023. Mary was born January 9, 1928, in Ellijay, GA to her late parents Marvin Colombus and Nancy Ann (Banks) Pankey. Mary has been a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church since 1946. Mary was saved at Tails Creek Baptist Church in July of 1942. Mary is preceded in death by her husband J.D. Jones, sisters Para Lee Beard, Clara Faye Clark, Reba Cronan, Mattie P. Pierce, and brother John Pankey.

Survivors include her daughter Sarah and Hassel Chastain, Ellijay, GA, son Donny and Faye Jones, Ellijay, GA, grandchildren Matt and Cindy Chastain, Ellijay, GA, Paige and Brian Price, Panama City Beach Fla, greatgrandchildren Patrick and Katlin Martin, Luke and Kaitlyn Chastain, great great grandchildren Brenleigh Chastain, Jasper Chastain, Rhett Martin, brother Hobert Pankey, Chatsworth, GA, sister Ruby P. Cochran, Ellijay, GA, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 13, 2023, at the funeral home from 4 pm to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Dotson, Rev. Gerald Siniard, and Rev. Scott Chastain officiating. Luke Chastain, Patrick Martin, Tim Smith, Robby Cantrell, Wayne Holt, David Smith, and Jeremy Sellers are serving as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
