Obituary

Marvin Junior Pritchett, lovingly known as "Mr. Marvin" or "Pop," passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Ellijay, GA, on Tuesday, September 17th. Born September 27, 1933, to the late William Tobe "WT" and Ollie (Jones) Pritchett, Marvin spent his life in Ellijay.

A devout Christian, Marvin dedicated his life to the Lord and served as an elder for nearly 40 years at the Ellijay Church of Christ. His unwavering faith, love for mission work at home and abroad, and commitment to spreading God's teachings were central to his life. His legacy of kindness, leadership, service, and faith will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Marvin shared a lifetime with his caring wife, Rachel Evans Pritchett. They were married in 1956. Together, they were blessed with a son, Barry Marvin Pritchett, who married Rebecca (Huckabey) from Athens, TN. Barry and Becca have three children, cherished by Pop: Dr. Joel William Pritchett, who married Emma (Feltner), and their son, Graham William, of Sharpsburg, GA; Zachary Tobe Pritchett of Ellijay, GA; and Breann Elizabeth Pritchett of Fort Oglethorpe, GA.

Marvin proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years before embarking on a career that spanned three decades at Astroturf in Dalton. After a full day handling logistics, he would return to his true passion: tending his orchard on his beloved farm. As a child, Pop dreamed of cultivating beautiful apples for others to enjoy, a dream that came to life and continues through the many visitors who come to the farm each fall.

Of special note are Abel Garcia and the many wonderful friends, who Pop considered family, for their unwavering support and hard work on the family farm through the years by his side. The family also wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the caretakers and hospice team who provided care to both Marvin and Rachel during this time.

Marvin is preceded in death by his brothers, James, Ernest, Elvin, and Hayden Pritchett, as well as three little sisters who passed many years ago. He is survived by his brothers, Homer (Margie) Pritchett and Lloyd (Pat) Pritchett, both of Ellijay; sisters, Helen Stephens of Ellijay and Reatha Tilley of Dalton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
