Martha Mae Thomas Joiner, age 76, of Roswell, GA., passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton, Ga., following a long battle with breast cancer.

Martha was born on August 7, 1947, in Douglas, GA. to her late parents Rev. Cecil Forrest Thomas and Lillie Mae Turner Thomas. Martha was preceded in death by a sister Mary Carter and a brother, James Thomas. Martha was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodstock, GA.,  and a former member of First Baptist Church of Ellijay, GA. She was a graduate of Brewton Parker College and Atlanta School of Dental Assisting. She worked as a dental assistant for almost 40 years.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Wilbur Dorsey (Dub) Joiner Jr. of Roswell, GA., sons Rev. Wilbur David Joiner (Joy) of Monroe, NC,. and Donald Jackson Joiner (Caroline) of Roswell, GA; grandchildren Kerianne Joiner, Miller Joiner and Walker Joiner; sisters Lillie Ruth Gaulding, of Conyers, GA., and Anne Strickland of Oceanway, FL.; brothers Forrest Thomas Jr. and Hymerick Thomas, both of Nahunta, GA., and Dr. George Thomas (Glenda) of Waycross, GA.

There will be a visitation with the family beginning at 1 p.m., Friday, October 20, 2023 with a memorial service to follow at 2 PM.,  both at First Baptist Church of Ellijay, GA.  Rev. Mike Morgan and Rev. Micah Strickland will be officiating, with music by Rev. Scott Eaton.
