Ms. Marilyn Kay Ashley, age 79, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21st, 2026.

Ms. Ashley was born on January 20, 1947, in Rome, Georgia, to the late Neal Jackson Wells and Mary Jo (Hendrix) Peterson. She was a vibrant and caring woman who found great joy in her community and family. Marilyn was actively involved with the Gilmer County Senior Center, where she built many lasting friendships. She especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

For many years, Marilyn proudly owned and operated her own beauty shop, Ashley's Haircare, in Douglasville, Georgia, where she formed meaningful connections with her clients and community.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Michelle Rountree (Hugh); her treasured grandchildren, Hunter Rountree, Hannah Burks (Ian), Averi Turner (Merritt), Addie Rountree, Kaylin Rountree, and Kaden Reece; and one great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by her brothers, Danny Peterson (Anita), Jack Wells (Kay), and Don Wells (Shirley), along with several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Marilyn's life is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
