Obituary

Mrs. Marguerite "Margie" Esther Owens Case, age 77 passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, at Piedmont Hospital in Jasper. Margie loved Jesus with all her heart and is now worshipping at the feet of The Savior in Heaven.

Margie was born on March 31, 1947, in Hickory, NC. When she was 7 years old, her family moved to Statesboro, Georgia. She graduated from Statesboro High School in 1965. After graduation, Margie attended the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. She received her bachelor's degree in Medical Records Administration in 1972.

Margie began her career in medical records in Greenville, South Carolina at St. Francis Downtown. She met her husband, Jack Douglas Case, while in Greenville and they were married in 1974. Margie finished her 47-year career as the Director of Medical Records at the North Georgia Medical Center, Ellijay, Georgia. She also had the privilege of directing the Chaplain Ministry at the North Georgia Medical Center.

Margie was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Ellijay, Georgia. Her love for The Lord was evident in Margie's beautiful smile, kind words, and special gestures towards others. She played the organ, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and served others through the prayer ministry.

Although Margie never had children of her own, she was beloved by 8 nieces and nephews. Always the aunt who made birthdays and holidays extra special, she will remain a tremendous part of many stories and wonderful family memories. Margie's mothering ways also extended to many animals in her life… pets and wildlife.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jefferson Edwards Owens, Sr and Ethel Keith Owens; a sister, Kathryn Owens Tankersley; a brother, Jefferson Edward Owens, Jr; a half-sister, Iris Bolick; and nephew, Jefferson Edward Owens, III.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Douglas Case, Ellijay, GA; sister, Louise Patterson of Duluth, Georgia; sister-in-law, Mima Hart Owens of Statesboro, Georgia; and nieces and nephews.
