Mrs. Margaret "Evelyn" Crooke Hensley, age 85 of Ellijay, GA passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, peacefully at home with her family by her side.

Evelyn was born on April 7, 1939, in Ellijay, GA to her late parents James and Vesta Crooke. Evelyn was married to her loving husband and best friend, James Howard Hensley, for 64 years until his passing on May 19, 2020. They were dedicated members of the Berean Baptist Church. They loved and enjoyed working in their church, their family, and helping anyone in need.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, her brother and sister-in-law Farrell and Shirley Crooke, brothers-in-law, Jimmy Jones, Eugene, Elmer, Delmer and Edith, Fred and Mary, Ed Hensley, Chuck Holland, Norman Smith, and Bobby Parker; step brother-in-law Tommy Silvers, step sister-in-law, Stella Jo Chastain.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Rhonda & Herman Davis of Chatsworth, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Terry & Gina Hensley of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren and spouses, Seth (Jennifer) Davis; Canzady (Brent) Dotson; Hannah (Josh) Jones; Melissa (Dustin) Long, and 13 great-grandchildren; Laney, Ella, and Hadley Dotson; Lyla Landry; and Leah Davis; Cole, Luke and Kendall Jones; Joshua, Gracie, Will, and Mary Evelyn Long; sisters, Buddy & Linda Talbot, and Inez Jones. sisters-in-law, Bernadine Hensley, Vira Hensley, Bonnie Smith; Teresa Parker, and Readell H. Holland, many nieces, nephews, a wonderful church family, neighbors, and friends also survive.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 4 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 11 am at Berean Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Stephenson, Rev. Lamar Beason, and Rev. Josh Jones, Bro. Zach Sanford, and Bro. Marlen Hensley officiating. Special singing will be by Rev. David Nicholson, Cathy Gregory, and Evelyn's grandchildren.

Interment will follow in the Berean Baptist Church Cemetery with Jimmy Talbot, Tinsley Jones, Evan Frady, David Watkins, Timmy Hensley, Jerry Hensley, and Tony Smith serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewell Sanford, Clay Elrod, Larry Hensley, Edwin Smith, and Virgil Trammel.
