Obituary

Jordan Tyler Collins

May 10, 1996 – November 23, 2025

Jordan Tyler Collins, 29, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away on November 23, 2025, in DeKalb County. Born on May 10, 1996, Jordan lived a life marked by fearlessness, sensitivity, humor, and an extraordinary connection to both people and animals.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, David Maddox and great-grandfather, Orin Lampkin.

He is survived by his father, Shane Collins, stepmother, Shawna Collins and his sister, Sydney Collins; his grandmother, Cherie Maddox; his grandfather, Jimmy Collins; his aunts, Morgan Fields and Roseanna Ringham; his mother, Laura Ramey; and his grandparents, Linda and Mike Ramey.

Jordan was a natural athlete who loved a good competition. From the moment he could balance on a two wheeled bike at age three, he competed in BMX races along with his father, and spent many afternoons zipping around the homemade track his father built in the backyard. He played basketball as a child, loved staying active, and always enjoyed working out and pushing himself physically.

An entrepreneurial spirit ran through Jordan's veins. Even as a child he would resell his belongings—often at a profit—to classmates, foreshadowing a talent for spotting opportunities and turning them to his favor. This skill also made him a formidable chess player who was known to often beat even more experienced players.

Jordan possessed a connection to animals that was close to magical. Whether caring for his own dogs and cats, rehabilitating injured wildlife, or simply drawing skittish creatures into his confidence, Jordan's uncanny intuition allowed him to bond with animals in a way many found remarkable.

Children were similarly drawn to Jordan's sensitivity and patience, feeling safe and heard in his presence. He had a rare gift for seeing people clearly, sensing what they needed, and meeting them with empathy and humor. He was witty, funny, and quick with a joke, yet easygoing and kind.

A celebration of Jordan's life is being planned and will be held at a later date.
