Mr. John Jeremiah Shearn age 89 of W.D. Court, Ellijay, GA., passed from this life on Friday, September 25th, 2009. Born December 18th, 1919 to his late parents William Albert and Edith Jeremiah Shearn in Ponty Pool, Wales, Great Britain. Mr. Shearn attended the First United Methodist Church of Ellijay, and was a retiree of Chemical Tank Lines in Mulberry, FL. He served honorably in the U.S. Army in the 503 Airborne Regiment during WWII serving in the Pacific Theater and was awarded three bronze star metals. Mr. Shearn is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Judith and Ken Farmer of Ellijay, GA., JoAnn and Harland Drawdy of Tallassee, FL., "his girls" Ashlyn and Chelsey Etgen and grandson Matt McCabe of Chicago, IL. Military memorial services will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 28th, 2009 from the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion, Rev. Jeri Worley officiating, with military rites by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment will be in the National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Gilmer County Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1982, Ellijay, GA. 30540.
