John Mark Painter, age 53 of Ellijay, GA passed on Monday, August 30, 2021. He was born June 29, 1968 in Searcy, AR to his parents Wilton Harvey and Barbara Ellen (Thompson) Painter. He was an elder at the Ellijay Church of Christ. John enjoyed leading singing, traveling, and riding roller coasters, especially on his birthday. No roller coaster was ever too intimidating for him, the more thrilling the better. He worked for the Gilmer County School system for 22 years as a Technology Technician. John graduated from Rolla High School, then he received a BS in Math and Computer Science from Oklahoma Christian University. While in college he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Omega social club. John is preceded in death by his father Wilton Harvey Painter and also by his late wife Cindy Reeves Painter. Survivors include his wife Jennifer Amber (Holloway) Painter, Ellijay, GA, daughters Morgan Lillie and Luke Stolz, Fountain, CO, Maggie Mae Painter, Ellijay, GA, one future grandbaby due in March; his mother and her husband Barbara E. and Alan Cox, Springfield, MO, brother James Andrew and Eva Painter, New Franklin, MO, sister Lydia Ruth and Jay Hall, Searcy, AR; Aunt Lucille Morgan, Belgrade, MO; mother-in-law and father-in-law Willa Mae and Mike Holloway, Ellijay, GA, brothers-in-law Jason and Melissa Holloway, Blue Ridge, GA, James and Naomi Holloway, Rockmart, GA; several special nieces and nephews and beloved cousins, and his special Furbaby Tootsie survive. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 3:0O pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 5, 2021 at 2:30 pm at the Ellijay Church of Christ with Ministers Jeremy Green and Caleb Sampson officiating. Interment will follow in the Ellijay Church of Christ Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ellijay Church of Christ Scholarship Fund in memory of John at 351 N.
