Jane Prince Thurman, age 90 of Ellijay, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at her residence. Mrs. Thurman was born February 25th, 1924 in Fannin County, GA., to her late parents Thomas C Roach and Eva Mae England Roach and was a member of Cartecay United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Copperhill Tennessee High School, class of 1940. She also graduated Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, TN., and earned her B.S. Degree from the University of Georgia. Mrs. Thurman was a retiree of the Gilmer County School System where she taught elementary school for over 30 years. She is preceded in death by husbands E.L. Prince and Rufus Thurman, sister Tabitha Roach Owen, nephew, James (Rhodie) Owen. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Jan and John Pridgen of Cordele, GA.; sons & daughters-in-law Rick and Betsy Prince of Carrollton, GA., Tommy & Beverly Prince of Ellijay, GA.; grandchildren Kimberly Prince Korobov, Elizabeth Prince-Coleman, Katherine Jane Prince, Rob Pridgen, Laura Pridgen Cavataio, Ben Pridgen, Tiffany Barnes, Brittany Stanley, Ashley Whitaker and 6 great-grandchildren, niece, Betsy Owen Hyde. A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 27th, 2014 at Cartecay United Methodist Church with Rev. Sanford Willard, Rev. Rebecca Holmes and Rev. Harden Hopper officiating. Music and vocals performed by Jeanetta Kelly, Dennis & Debbie Patterson and Susan Hotchkins. Interment will follow in the Cartecay UMC Cemetery, Ellijay, GA. Pallbearers will be Alvin Reece, Eddie Henson, Neill Korobov, Rob Pridgen, Ben Pridgen, Anthony Cavataio, Darren Barnes, and Brad Whitaker.
