Obituary

Mr. James "Jimmie" Roy Butler, age 92, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 7th, 2026.

Mr. Butler was born on October 16th, 1933 in Cartersville, Georgia to the late Anderson Roy and Ellen Lucille Callaway Butler. Jimmie started out as a farm kid in Euharlee, Georgia. He learned early about hard work, responsibility, and doing what needs to be done. Those lessons stayed with him his whole life. He carried that work ethic into industry, starting out as a forklift driver at Philadelphia Carpet in Cartersville, He worked his way up to become the shipping manager at Shaw Industries, one of the largest carpet companies in the world. He spent more than 30 years there. Jimmie also served his country honorably in the United States Army. He retired early to his mountain home where he continued his favorite pass time of being a legendary trout fisherman.

He had a mischievous sense of humor and a was a legendary story teller. He was an adventurer, loved the back roads and travelled all over the US and Canada with Lois. He lived in the mountains for 38 years and loved every minute of it.

He knew the Lord and attended Brandons Chapel in Stilesboro, GA up until his final days.

Mr. Butler is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Lois Chadwick Butler.

Survivors include daughters Deborah (Alvin) Reynolds of Myrtle, Missouri, Carla (Steven) Rutledge of Cartersville; son Mark (Linda) Butler of Cartersville; stepchildren Cathy Satterfield of Cartersville and Ronnie Walker of Cartersville; grandchildren Wesley, Blake, and Devon Stubbs, Tara Clark, Boedie Butler, Garrett Rutledge, Chelcie Hiers, Amanda Wallace, T.J Walker, and Brande Poulnot; sisters Sharon Hendricks and Sybil Smith; brother Andy Butler; and several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robbie Chastain officiating. Military rites will follow in the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with Military Rites being performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

Interment will follow in the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Wesley Stubbs, Blake Stubbs, Devon Stubbs, Boedie Butler, Garrett Rutledge, and Colbie Clark.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until the service hour of 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026 at Logan Funeral Home.
