Mr. Ira Alfred Dotson, age 79 of the Mountaintown community, Ellijay, Georgia passed on Tuesday, July 1st, 2014, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Mr. Dotson was born July 15, 1934 in Ellijay, Georgia to his late parents John Thomas Dotson and Nancy Sanford Dotson. Ira served as a medic in the US Army from 1956 through 1958, and retired from the USDA as a food inspector. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eunice Findley Dotson of the home in Ellijay, GA; Son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Melissa Dotson of Ellijay, GA; Grandchildren, Jennifer Dotson Staton, Destiny Dotson, Christina Geister, Jessica Dotson, and Hannah Dotson; Great grandchildren, Lauren Gibbs, Shaelyn Bethel, Peyton Dotson, and Lilly Staton; Niece, Ann Wicker; Nephew, Tom Davenport also survives. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 3rd, 2014 at the Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Billy Dotson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014, at the Logan Funeral Home.
