Obituary

Mrs. Inez Teague Sumner, age 86 of Ellijay, GA passed away on Monday November 17th, 2025 at the Oaks of Ellijay.

Inez was born on May 18, 1939, in Ellijay, GA, to the late Avery and Ermie (Teems) Teague. A proud member of the Gilmer High School Class of 1957, she grew up deeply rooted in the community she loved. Inez was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Ellijay and spent 41 dedicated years working at the Blue Ridge Carpet Mill before her retirement.

Above all, Inez was a loving mother and a proud "Gigi," cherishing every moment spent with her family.

Her love of fellowship and tradition shone through her lifelong involvement in local organizations. She was a proud member of the Gilmer County Saddle Club for over 60 years and faithfully served with the Order of the Eastern Star, Ellijay Chapter #340, for more than 70 years. Inez is preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Sumner.

Survivors include her son, Mike (Shannon) Sumner; grandchildren, Michael Charles Sumner, II "Chase" (Anna), Christian Johnathan-Dean Sumner, and Kevin Dyer (Taylor); special friend, Zachary Brown.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday November 19th from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddy Hensley, Rev. Bryan Hensley, and Rev. James Holt officiating. Eastern Star graveside rites will be performed by the Order of the Eastern Star Ellijay Chapter #340. Interment will follow in the Mountaintown Baptist Church Cemetery with Keith Sumner, John Sumner, Todd Coleman, Herbert Teague, Scott Sales, Adam Teague, David Westmoreland and Zachary Brown serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mack Logan and Ronnie Gheesling.

The family will receive friends from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Tuesday November 18th at the Logan Funeral Home.

In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Ellijay Saddle Club or to the Order of the Eastern Star Ellijay Chapter #340 Scholarship fund at 8 Rocky Mountain Circle Cherry Log, GA 30522 in memory of Mrs. Sumner.
