Mrs. Hilda Lucille (Tankersley) Abercrombie, age 82 of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, peacefully with her children at her side.

Mrs. Abercrombie was born on August 26, 1943, in Gilmer County to the late Waldo Marvin Tankersley and Mary Edna (McClurd) Tankersley. She was a devoted member of Pleasant Gap Baptist Church since July 12, 1969. Hilda was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Herman Abercrombie; and her brothers, Marvin Tankersley, Harold "Sarg" Tankersley, and James Tankersley; grandchildren, Brandon Abercrombie and Chelsey Garland.

Survivors include her children, Angela and Jeff Garland of Ellijay, Georgia; Steven and Mary Ann Abercrombie of Converse, Texas; and Randy and Susan Abercrombie of Ellijay; grandchildren, John and Chris Abercrombie, James Abercrombie, Mark Abercrombie, Brycen and Angel Garland, and Jaylyn and Colby Edmondson; siblings, Linda Tankersley, Patsy Callahan, Ann Weaver and Johny Ridley, Hyatt and Cathy Tankersley, Benny and Deb Tankersley, and Carter and Joy Tankersley; sisters-in-law, Jane Bostic Tankersley, Betty Abercrombie, Theresa Abercrombie, Elsie Kowitz, and Mattie Hood; special caretakers, Dawn Bernau and Diana Brown; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2026 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Eddie Kerr, Rev. Brondy Davis, and Bro. Brycen Garland officiating. Special music will be provided by the Pleasant Gap Baptist Church Choir, Angel Garland, Lauren Sanford, Janessa Sanford, and Kaylee McClure.

Graveside interment will follow in the Pleasant Gap Baptist Church Cemetery, with Tim Tankersley, Deron Tankersley, Bryan Young, David Tankersley, Greg Tankersley, Wesley Tankersley, Ben Rankin, and Michael Abercrombie serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Abercrombie, Johnny Abercrombie, Bobby Abercrombie, Shane Abercrombie, and Dennis Abercrombie.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Logan Funeral Home.

Flowers and food are kindly accepted, or donations may be made to the Pleasant Gap Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to Georgia Mountains Hospice in memory of Mrs. Abercrombie.
