Herman Luther Corbin, age 86 of Ellijay, GA passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023.  He was born on July 13, 1936 in the Tails Creek community of Ellijay, GA to his late parents Noah Paul and Gussie Ernie (Sanford) Corbin.  He served his country honorably in the US Army and was stationed at Fort Ord at Monterey, CA. Then later served at Fort Benning where he met his future wife. He worked through the years as a journeyman, carpenter, welder with the TVA and maintenance with Gilmer County Schools. Herman is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Mildred Spivey Corbin; brothers Rev. Arthur Corbin, Joe Corbin and Truman Corbin; sisters Mary Nell Corbin, Ruth Geneva Corbin,  Gertha Lee Banks, Peggy Ann Quarles and Annie Mae Pinson; and son-in-law Bobby Ash.

Herman is survived by his daughters Carla Ash and Dana Farist; son-in-law Larry Farist; granddaughters Susannah Ash and Audra Farist and great-grandson Nathaniel Ash, all of Ellijay, GA. Sisters Oma Jean Cauldwell of Ellijay, GA, Gwenda Sue Davis of Chatsworth, GA, Nena Faye McClure of Ellijay, GA, Gail Sanford of Chatsworth, GA and brother Ronnie Corbin of Robinsville, NC.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 2 pm to 4 pm at Tails Creek Baptist Church and the funeral service will follow at 4 pm all at the church.  Rev. Brondy Davis, Rev. Earl Abernathy, speaker Tim Pinson and speaker Larry Farist officiating.  Larry Farist, Nathaniel Ash, Leon McClure, Ronnie Abercrombie, Tracy Abercrombie and Terry Payne serving as pallbearers.  Floyd Scott, Rev. Willie Young, Doc McClure, Jerry Baxter and Shane Cromie are honorary pallbearers.
