Herbert Vernon Sanford, age 92 of Ellijay, GA, passed away Tuesday August 27, 2024. Herbert was born on February 17, 1932, in Ellijay, GA to his late parents Jerry Burton Sanford and Dora Dotson. Herbert was a member and deacon of Crossroads Baptist Church in Ellijay, GA. He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn Sanford, sons Kenneth Sanford, and Teddy Sanford, sisters and sister in laws Bertie Burgess, Matti Lee Banks, Para Lee Arnold, Reba Nelson, Eva Mae Banks, Nina Burgess and Vira Davis and brothers and sisters Jack Sanford, JC Sanford and Ermel Sanford.

Survivors include daughter Joyce Sanford of Ellijay, GA, son Rex Sanford of Waleska, GA, grandchildren Brittany and Ron Lomonaco and Chase Wright, great grandchildren Logan Lomonaco and Henley Wright and special family friend Jerry Milsap.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday September 9, 2024, from 12-3 pm. and the funeral will be held at 3 pm. on Monday September 9, 2024, at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jerry Banks and Rev. Eddie Kerr officiating and music by Harold Sanford. Pall bearers are Danny Banks, Tim Parks, Dennis Vinson, Ron Lomonaco, Jerry Milsap and Ted Stanfield. Graveside service will be at the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion.
