Colonel George David Pletcher, Sr., age 91, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Monday, August 4th, 2025 at his residence.

Col. Pletcher was born on December 27th, 1933 in Akron, Ohio to the late William French and Edna Clair McCutchen Pletcher. He was a graduate of Kent State University, and served his country honorably as a Colonel in the United States Army with over 20 years of service before his retirement. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. For many years, he proudly served the Veterans of North Georgia and their families as Chaplain of the North Georgia Honor Guard. He is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Pletcher; brothers, Bill Pletcher and Les Pletcher; and sister, Eileen Bush.

Survivors include his daughters, Loretta Brewster of Murrayville, GA, Norma McCormick of Apache Junction, AZ, Jacquelyn Wilkinson of Ellabell, GA; son, George Pletcher, Jr.; 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 3 step-grandchildren; and brother, Jim Pletcher.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 9th, 2025 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Smith and Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Military rites will follow in the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with the North Georgia Honor Guard officiating. Interment will follow in the J.P. Chastain Memorial Park in Blue Ridge, GA. The North Georgia Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until the service hour of 2:00pm on Saturday, August 9th, 2025 at the Logan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Georgia Honor Guard, P.O. Box 2372, Blue Ridge, GA 30513, in memory of Col. Pletcher.
