Mrs. Gale Nelson Defoor, age 72 of Ellijay, passed away on Wednesday, June 24th, 2026.

Mrs. Defoor was born on July 21st, 1953 to her late parents Rev. Clifford and Reba Nelson. She was a faithful member of the Crossroads Baptist Church and a graduate of Gilmer High School. She attended Pickens Technical College and studied Cosmetology. She was the proud founder, owner, and operator of A Cut Above.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Mr. Wilburn C. Defoor of the home in Ellijay; daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Bruce Engler of Canton; son and daughter-in-law Brent and Joy Defoor of Ellijay; grandchildren Kyle Engler, Taylor Engler, Josh Engler, Brittany Engler, Ashley Engler, Hershel Defoor, and Lee Defoor; sister Rena Nelson Lauzier of Gainesville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law James and Teresa Defoor; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 27th, 2026 from the Crossroads Baptist Church of Ellijay with Rev. Eugene Davis, Rev. Glen Arnold, and Rev. Billy Dotson officiating. Special music will be by Ronald and Linda Hyde. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Tim McArthur, David McArthur, Ted Stanfield, Tony Nelson, Houston Elliott, Joe Frady, Josh Davis, Justin Hurd, Hershel Defoor, Willard Davis, and Brian Barton.

The family will receive friends from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday, June 26th, 2026 at Logan Funeral Home.
