EUGENE P. RIVERS Eugene P. Rivers age 78 of the New Hope Community of Ellijay passed from this life Thursday, April 12th, 2012 from the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. He was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church of Ellijay, a graduate of Spalding County High School, class of 1955, and received his B.S. Degree from Georgia Tech, Class of 1963. Mr. Rivers served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and was am Industrial Engineer employed as Plant Manager with Dundee Mills. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hope Lutheran Church Building Fund, 3295 Old Highway 5 South, Ellijay, Georgia 30540. Survivors include wife of 52 years Elene Mashburn Rivers of the home in Ellijay; daughter Sally Lillian Rivers of Atlanta, GA.; son and daughter-in-law Eugene Phillip and Gina Rivers of King George, Virginia; grandchildren Grace, Faith, Noah, Hope, Joy, Glory, Isaiah and Daniel Rivers. Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, April 15th, 2012 from the Hope Lutheran Church of Ellijay. Officiating will be Pastor Dave Smedley and Rev. Harden Hopper, music and songs performed by Grace Rivers and Keith Bell, accompanist Rae Reta Peel. Pallbearers: Eugene Rivers, Jr.,Faith Rivers, Noah Rivers, Bill Are, Bob Martin, Jim Beno, Gunther Rankenburg, and Vern Haugen. Military interment service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday April 16th, from the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with Military Rites performed by the North GA Honor Guard. Interment will be in the Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery in Griffin, Georgia. Visitation will begin Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m. at the Logan Funeral Home and Chapel.
