Ms. Ella Smith Sills, 91, of Ellijay, GA formerly of Anderson, IN passed on Friday, February 5, 2016. She was born August 19th, 1924 in Earnestville, KY, to the late William Calvin and Mary Etta Marcum Smith. She married Charles F. Sills on October 12, 1946, and he preceded her in death on June 12, 2003. In addition to her husband and parents, Ella was preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd, Matt, and Clay Smith; sisters, Emily Sheffield and Bethel Jean Alberts; sons-in-law, Robert Powers and Larry Cline; and daughter-in-law, Tonia Sills. Ella was a loving, kind, giving, and sweet person. Her greatest passions in life were being a wife, mother, and serving the Lord. She always made her children and husband a priority. Ella's life was devoted to her family. One of the ways she showed this was through her cooking, in which she was very gifted. She could cook for just a few or prepare the whole meal for her Sunday School class. The food was always delicious. Ella was a devout Christian who loved serving the Lord. While attending Goodwin Memorial Church of the Nazarene, she was a Sunday School teacher, bible school teacher, and she also worked in the nursery. She was a true servant of the Lord every day of her life. Ella was a hard worker all her life. Simple things made her happy. She and her husband, Charles, enjoyed planting a large vegetable garden every spring, which provided more than enough food for her family each year. She would can and freeze the vegetables and generously share the abundance with her fellow church families. Being the beautiful person that she was, we will always cherish the memories and be thankful God gave us a wonderful mother. Survivors include daughters, Naomi Powers of Ellijay, GA, Jane Cline of Anderson, IN and Joyce Ballard of Winter Park, FL; sons and daughter-in-law Joseph Sills of Anderson, IN and Paul Eugene and Cherry Sills of Pyatt AR; Eleven grandchildren; Nine great grandchildren, Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 12, 2016, at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Dickson officiating. Interment will follow in Grant Memorial Park in Marion, IN. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pruitthealth Hospice at 6050 Appalachian Highway, Blue Ridge, GA 30513 in memory of Ms. Sills. Local arrangements by Logan Funeral Home and Chapel.
