Donald "Don" Nelson Murray, age 78 of Ellijay, GA, passed away on Thursday, May 1st, 2025. Don was born on February 25, 1947, in Jacksonville, FL, to his late parents Holmes Nelson Murray and Grace Adams. Don was a retiree from the United States Air Force, where he was a Master Sergeant and worked at Graybar Electric for over 30 years. Don was a very active member of Gilmer County, working with Community leaders to form a Civil Air Patrol Squadron, serving as Ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce, and was appointed by the late House Speaker Ralston to serve on the Northwest Regional Georgia Commission. For the last several years, Don served as Chairman of the Gilmer Veterans Memorial Committee. He worked to plan the Memorial Day service and worked toward the restoration of the Gilmer Veterans Memorial Park. Don is preceded in death by his son Brett Nelson Murray, sisters Elizabeth Ann Murray Burch and Martha Alyce Murray McCroan, and brother Homer Gordon Murray.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Barbara Ann McCammon Murray, of Ellijay, GA, and sister Ruby Josephine Murray Arbogast of Folkston, GA.

The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 10th at 11:00 am at the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with Rev. Alan Tarr and Georgia Honor Guard officiating.
