Obituary

Diane was born on June 30th, 1944, to Elmer Drennon and Inez Hall Drennon. Diane was a lifelong resident of Gilmer County, and she graduated from Gilmer High School in 1962. She had a love of reading and went on to study at the University of Georgia where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sociology in 1967. After graduation, Diane enjoyed her work as a social worker for the Department of Family and Children Services and retired after 34 years of service.

Diane was also very devoted to her family. On June 30th, 1973, she married C. Paul Nealey. They were happily married for over 50 years. In December of 1986, they welcomed their son Ryan and delighted in being able to raise him. Diane passed surrounded by her loving family.

Among many of Diane's interests was her love for animals, but especially cats. She took in and cared for several cats over the years, opening her home whenever one came into her life. The house colloquially became known as the "cat house".

Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Inez, and her great-aunt Maggie Hall. She is survived by her husband Paul, son Ryan, sister-in-law Jeanette Smith, nephew Frank Smith and wife Liz, nephew Scott Smith and wife Mona, and many cousins.
