Obituary

March 20, 1951 - May 26, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Danny Michael Boes, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, in the warm embrace of his family, who were his greatest treasure and joy.

Born on March 20, 1951, in the quaint town of Norwalk, Ohio, he was the son of Joseph and Elaine (Buck) Boes. Danny was a proud graduate of Warren Western Reserve High School, class of 1969, and later pursued his passion for learning, earning a degree from Malone University in 1994. His life was a testament to determination and resilience, beginning with his service in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. His courage and dedication to his country were paralleled by his commitment to his family and community.

A career spanning 35 years at The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company saw him rise through the ranks due to his unwavering work ethic and integrity, before retiring in 2011. His colleagues and friends remember him not just as a mentor but as a man of honesty, loyalty and integrity.

On May 7, 2016, Danny found his soulmate in Ruby, with whom he shared a deep love and partnership. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, music, crafts and family. His daughters—Joy (Mike) Lyle, Mary Miller, Melissa (Tim) Simmons, and Kathryn (Dan) Schlue—held a special place in his heart. He was a proud and involved father who celebrated each of their milestones with enthusiasm and pride.

His legacy continues through his 13 adoring grandchildren: Ansley, Matt, Davis, Jake, Ava, Lila, Mick, Jaylin, Stevie, Kelly, Colin, Kate, and Carly. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Mylah and Brielle, who brought him immense joy. He is survived by his brother, Ed (Vicki) Boes, his sister Marylou (Dan) King, and a host of nieces and nephews who cherished his stories, wisdom, and humor.

Danny had an unmatched zest for life, expressed through his passions, and above all, he had a deep faith and love for Jesus Christ, which guided the way he lived and loved others. His love for music was evident in his mastery of the guitar and piano, and he found joy in the camaraderie of bowling and pickleball. Ever the craftsman, he never met an art project, craft, or home project he couldn't master, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and love in every piece he touched.

Preceded in death by his dear parents, Joseph and Elaine, his family finds comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with them. Danny will be remembered for his generous spirit, his steadfast love for family, and his ability to light up a room with his infectious smile, laughter and wit.

As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate his extraordinary life and the indelible impact he left on all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed but eternally remembered in the hearts of his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on June 6, 2026 at Logan Funeral Home in Ellijay to celebrate Danny's life. Visitation will begin at 2pm and the service will begin at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The HOPE Center in Woodstock, GA in Danny's memory, reflecting his spirit of giving and love of the unborn.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to the staff at Compassus Hospice, especially Sharon and Diane, who treated Danny as one of their own family members. We are eternally grateful for all you did to make Danny feel special.

Rest in peace, dear Danny. Your legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all.
