Mrs. Dale Hicks Allen, age 72 of Ellijay, GA passed away on Thursday, February 24th, 2022. Mrs. Allen was born on May 14th, 1949 in Dallas, GA to the late William and Hazel (Hulsey) Hicks. Dale worked as a teacher for the Gilmer County School System for over 20 years. She was a member of the Ellijay First United Methodist Church and she is preceded in death by her husband, Emory Hancock Allen. Survivors include her daughters and son-in-laws; Ashley and Josh Stover of Ellijay; Allyson Allen and Casey Snipes of Nashville, TN; grandson, Cooper Allen Stover; special friends, Barry & Kathy, Lauren, Aaron, & Abby Bramlett. Memorial Services will be held at 5:00pm on Tuesday March 1st, 2022 from the Ellijay First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Stover officiating. Special music will be by Joy Hice and Danny Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Shela Huff, Debbie Westmoreland, Linda Wright, Michelle Reece, Cindy Abercrombie, Marcia Roe, Stacey Hadden, Michelle Mumaw, Debi Fife, Sheri Bunch, Theresa Braswell, Paige Reece, Cindy West, Melinda Hadden, and Sydney Mahan. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. There will be no visitation held at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Gilmer Education Foundation at PO Box 2602 Ellijay, GA 30540.
