Mrs. Clara Jo (Parker)  Rodgers, age 85 of Ellijay, GA, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026. She was born on August 5, 1940, to her late parents, Allen Jamison and Alla (Burt) Parker, in Lee County, Alabama.

Clara Jo grew up in Opelika, Alabama. She graduated from college with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Her career began with writing for newspapers in Alabama and Georgia.Later she worked in HR at Watkins Memorial Hospital. She was the developer and owner of Maranatha Miniatures. Later she worked at Walmart until retirement.

Clara Jo's sense of humor and love for cats was infectious. She worked hard to have many feral cats spayed and neutered.

Her family wishes to thank many people in Ellijay who answered all of her numerous phone calls and took care of her needs when she was alone and unable to take care of things.A special thanks to Sarah and Mary and all the staff at Sonshine Manor who took wonderful care of her for her last few months.Also, thanks to the special care fromTapestry Hospice staff.

Clara Jo is survived by her cousins, Robin Gay and Dan Wooley , Joe Gay Jr,, Margaret Jones Gay and their children and grandchildren who she loved dearly There are four friends whom she thought of as family, John Rhodes, Stepf Davis, Jim Logan and Lizzy Godfrey.

A memorial service is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
