Mrs. Betty Ruth Carroll, age 71 of Ellijay, Georgia passed from this life on Saturday, September 5, 2015, She was born May 17, 1944 in Atlanta, GA. to her late parents Jessie Melissa Pless Whitaker and Theodore Roosevelt Whitaker. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by son Scott Thurman, infant sons Mark and John Randy Thurman; sisters Jessie Mae Payne, Jean Weeks, Florence Chapman; brothers Sammy Whitaker and Frank Whitaker. Survivors include husband of 33 years Joseph G. Carroll of Ellijay, GA.; daughters and sons-in-law Melinda & Virgil Stiles of Chatsworth, GA., Regina & Matthew Bryant of Ellijay, GA.; son and daughter-in-law Ricky & Vivian Thurman of Ellijay, GA.; grandchildren Heather Walden, Issac Holloway, Brandy Sharpe, Robbie Thurman, Angie Thurman, Tommy Bradford, Anna Franklin, Amber Bryant; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Irene Rogers of Hampton, GA, Dessie Worley of Ellijay, GA, Sue Long of Cohutta, GA, Rebecca JoAnn Cowart of Chatsworth, GA and Wanda Patterson of Blue Ridge, GA. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 9th, 2015 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glen Arnold officiating, music and song by Melvin & Glenda Davis. Committal service will follow in Ballew Memorial Cemetery, Ellijay, GA.
