Bernice Cleola Barnes, age 78 of Ellijay, GA passed on Monday, May 23, 2022. Bernice was born on January 30, 1944, to her late parents Cleve Akinson and Lillie Elanor (Corbin) Barnes in Ellijay, GA. Bernice was a member of the Tails Creek Baptist Church for over 60 years. Bernice was a graduate of Gilmer High School in 1961 she also retired from Hampton Mills and Davenport Hosiery Mill. Survivors include sister Ollie Barnes Sales, Acworth, GA, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and sister-in-law Helen James Barnes, Ellijay, GA. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 28, 2022, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 3:00 pm at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sammy Adams, Rev. Eddie Kerr, and Rev. Brondy Davis officiating. Charles Crook, Scott Barnes, Darin Barnes, Bradley Barnes, Mitch Barnes, Jeff Baxter, Tracy Abercrombie, Leon McClure, Byron Abercrombie, Ronnie Abercrombie, and Jerry Baxter to serve as pallbearers. Flowers are being accepted or donations can be made to the Tails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery fund in memory of Bernice Barnes c/o Tracy Abercrombie.
