Mr. Alex Davenport, age 73, of Ellijay, GA, passed away on December 12, 2024. Alex was born on September 2, 1951, in Ellijay, GA, to the late William Thomas "Bill" Davenport and Eunice Farist Davenport. Alex was a faithful member of Clear Creek Baptist Church, where he cherished his church family and was deeply devoted to the Lord. He was a proud graduate of Gilmer High School, Class of 1970, and later worked as a truck driver for Pilgrim's Pride.

Alex is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janice Evans Davenport; sons, Evan Davenport (Lottie) and Justin "JD" Davenport; grandchildren, Charlotte and Harper Davenport; sister, Janet Ray (Freddie); sister-in-law, Debbie Davenport and Mary Nell Agan; niece, Amy Sanford; nephew, Brent Sanford; as well as several great-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Willis Davenport, and his niece, Rebecca Smith.

The family will receive friends at Logan Funeral Home on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Funeral Services will be held at Clear Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Scott Watkins, Rev. Chris Chastain, Rev. John Reece, and Rev. Billy Dotson officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Freddie Ray, Waldo Pierce, Steve Ledford, Brent Sanford, Lamar Fendley, James Wright, Larry Mulkey, and Freddy Eller. Honorary pallbearers will include Harper Davenport, Jim Fendley, and Marvin Jones.
