Darrell Mathis, age 83 of Blairsville, GA passed on Sunday July 26, 2020. He was born on October 11, 1936 in Adel, GA to his late parents, Emory Cauley and Maye(Absher)Mathis. Mr. Mathis was a member of the Cartecay Baptist Church . Mr. Mathis was a Georgia State Trooper for 22 years. He is preceded in death by his Son Dwayne Alan Mathis and Brother Joel Mathis. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday July 30th from the Cartecay Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Hall officiating. Music and singing will be performed by Joan Bradford. Interment will follow in the Flint Hill Baptist Church cemetery. Mr. Mathis is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Faye (Corbett) Mathis, Blairsville, GA; Son and Daughter-in-law Andrew (Andy) and Carol S. Mathis, Blairsville, GA; Grandson Jacob Dayne Mathis, Blairsville, GA; Sisters Faye M. and Marcus Law, Ellijay, GA; Lynda and Buddy Hall Of Flowery Branch, GA. Sister-in-law JoAn Cothron Mathis, Valdosta, GA and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4pm to 8 pm Wednesday July 29th at the funeral home.
