Mr. Samuel "Sam" Benjamin Whitaker age 63 of Cherrylog, GA., passed from this life on Thursday, December 15th, 2011 at the Heritage Health Care of Blue Ridge, in Blue Ridge, GA. Mr. Whitaker was of the Baptist faith, born February 4th, 1948 to his late parents Theodore Roosevelt and Jessie Melvia Pless Whitaker in Ellijay, GA. He was employed with Hampton Mills. Survivors include wife of 45 years Della Dyer Whitaker of the home in Cherrylog, GA.; daughters Rhonda Lee Whitaker Brown of Cherrylog, GA., Ann Whitaker of Cherrylog, GA.; son and daughter-in-law Michael & Theda Whitaker of Cherrylog, GA.; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; sisters Irene W. Rogers of Jonesboro, GA., Dessie W. Worley of Ellijay, GA., Florence W. Chapman of Blue Ridge, GA., Betty W. Carroll of Ellijay, GA., Sue W. Long of Dalton, GA., Jo Ann W. Cowart of Chatsworth, GA., Wanda W. Patterson of Blue Ridge, GA.; brothers Frank Whitaker of Jasper, GA., John Whitaker of Ellijay, GA., several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17th, 2011 from the Colwell Baptist Church Cemetery in Blue Ridge, GA., with Rev. Glen Collis officiating and vocals by the Crawford Family. Pallbearers will be Nick Ledford, Frank Long, Alan Davis, Donnie Mooney, James Long, and Gary Cowart. Family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17th, 2011, at Logan Funeral Home and Chapel, until the time of the procession to the cemetery, around 2:15 p.m.
